The Performing Artist

 

    An accomplished pianist, pedagogue, and collaborator, Sophia Pileggi began her piano studies at the age of 9 with Janice Morris Puckett. Realizing a lifelong passion, Ms. Pileggi continued her music education at undergraduate and graduate levels receiving three degrees in Piano Performance from The Catholic University of America as well as the University of Miami. She has been a student of Dr. Nikita Fitenko, Dr. Ivo Kaltchev, and Prof. Santiago Rodriguez among others.​

   

Ms. Pileggi has performed in master classes for pianists Alexander Peskanov, Faina Lushtak, John Perry, Nelita True, Santiago Rodriguez, and Alexander Kobrin and at such venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Amalfi Coast, Xi'an, China, and  Lisbon, Portugal where she made her debut with the Lisbon Chamber Orchestra performing Haydn’s D Major Keyboard Concerto in 2014. ​​

    In 2015, Ms. Pileggi participated in The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music’s 50th Anniversary, performing as part of the Piano Division’s 32 Beethoven Concert Series. She was also one of two featured pianists in the School’s performance of Carmina Burana at the Kennedy Center in April, 2015.​​

     In Spring, 2016  Ms. Pileggi was awarded First Prize in the Cosmic Symphony’s Young Artist Competition where she was featured performing Schumann’s A Minor Piano Concerto that March. She was also a prize winner in the Lancaster International Piano Competition and in The Silk Road: The Sound of Piano Strings and Voice International Piano Competition. She was awarded First Prize at the Washington International Piano Festival Competition in July, 2017.​

   Since relocating to Miami in 2018, Ms. Pileggi has performed as part of Kaleidoscope MusArt’s 2018-2019 concert series hosted at The University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.  Ms. Pileggi was nominated a Laureate in the 2019 International Cochran Competition and a First Prize Winner in the Golden Classical Music Award. In January of 2021 she was awarded Third Prize in The Stars Competition.

    Ms. Pileggi’s upcoming performance engagements include several concerts in the South Florida area as well as a Performance Residency in Warsaw, Poland pending borders reopening from the pandemic. Pileggi is also an active soloist and chamber performer in the Groupmuse platform.

    Ms. Pileggi is also a recipient of the Italian Cultural Society Music Award, the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music Distinguished Service Award, and the Presser Music Award. She is a member of the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), National Federation of Music Teachers, Royal Conservatory of Music Teachers, and the Steinway Educational Partnership.

​    When she is not performing or managing her active piano studio, Ms. Pileggi enjoys studying foreign languages, yoga, Pure Barre, Italian food and Russian Literature.​
